Major franchises like Resident Evil and Alien offer discounted packages for players seeking to complete campaigns within the three-day holiday period.

Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, creating a three-day window that aligns with the release timing of several short-form horror video games. The PlayStation Store is currently offering discounts on a selection of these titles, allowing consumers to purchase complete campaigns for less than their standard retail prices. This timing coincides with a surge in interest for games that can be finished in a single weekend session.
The Resident Evil franchise remains the dominant force in the genre. Capcom’s recent release, Resident Evil: Requiem, launched earlier in 2026 and is currently discounted. The game is part of a lineage that includes the recent remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3, both of which appear frequently in sales rotations. Resident Evil: Village is available at no additional cost for PlayStation subscribers through the service’s game catalog. Resident Evil VII: Biohazard also features in the current promotion.
The Resident Evil 4 remake has seen renewed attention following its port to the PlayStation 5. The title was previously released for the PlayStation 2, Wii, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 4. The new version modernizes the gameplay mechanics while retaining the core structure of the original. These games are generally short in duration, fitting the requirement for a weekend completion.
Alien: Isolation offers a different approach to the genre by focusing on stealth rather than combat. The game follows Amanda Ripley, the daughter of Ellen Ripley, as she searches a space station for the black box from the Nostromo. The player must avoid the xenomorph, an enemy that cannot be defeated in direct confrontation. A sequel to Isolation is scheduled for release next year, which may drive additional interest in the original title.
Doki Doki Literature Club provides a psychological horror experience with a runtime of approximately four hours. The title began as a visual novel in 2017 before shifting into a disturbing narrative structure. Its short length allows players to complete the entire story in one sitting. The game deconstructs the visual novel format to create a sense of unease.
Until Dawn serves as an interactive adventure where player decisions determine the survival of the characters. Released in 2015, the game features multiple endings and story paths. It is designed for single-player engagement but is frequently played in groups. Players vote on decisions, making it a shared social experience for groups of friends.
All five recommended titles are currently discounted on the PlayStation Store. The availability of these games at reduced prices allows players to access a variety of horror styles without incurring high costs. The combination of short playtimes and weekend availability makes these specific titles practical choices for the holiday.
