Ukrainian defense forces evacuated 167 civilians from the right bank of Kherson Oblast while a ceasefire held in the Oleshky area.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the figures on Facebook. The evacuation covered settlements on Ukrainian-controlled territory along the Dnipro River. These areas faced daily attacks from Russian forces. Residents who previously could not leave dangerous zones used the temporary safety to depart.

Units from the Civil-Military Cooperation Department of the Pivden Group of Forces led the operation. They worked alongside local government representatives. The group transported residents to safer locations within Kherson Oblast. Among the 167 people moved were 22 children. The group also included 21 individuals with limited mobility who needed special assistance.

The General Staff described the conditions as extremely difficult and dangerous. Routes passed through mined roads and damaged infrastructure. Burnt-out military equipment and civilian cars blocked paths. These obstacles required coordinated action and particular caution from all units involved. The staff stated that Pivden Group of Forces units strictly observed the ceasefire in the mission area.

The evacuation followed a ceasefire agreement announced by the White House. US First Lady Melania Trump secured the deal in the Russian-occupied city of Oleshky. Human Rights Commissioner Dmytro Lubinets said the truce began at 03:00 on October 27. Russia's Defense Ministry confirmed the start. The ceasefire remains in effect until 22:59 on November 1.

Under the agreement, the evacuation route for Oleshky residents ran through Russia and Belarus to Ukraine. Lubinets explained that some people chose to go to Russian-controlled territory instead. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported on October 31 that the humanitarian operation in Oleshky was complete. All Ukrainian citizens evacuated crossed the state border in Chernihiv Oblast.

Lubinets noted that the oldest person evacuated from occupied Oleshky is 94 years old. The youngest is just over a year old. People brought their pets with them during the operation.
