NATO representatives will meet with senior officials from four Western powers in Brussels later this week.
The gathering will focus on security guarantees for Ukraine. It will also address Europe's post-war security architecture. US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff confirmed that his team will attend the session alongside counterparts from France, Germany, the UK, the EU, and NATO.
Alliance spokesperson Allison Hart stated that the meeting follows previous discussions held in Miami and Oslo. She said the parties aim to identify further steps toward a just and lasting end to the conflict. The talks are scheduled to take place in Belgium within the coming days.
Witkoff announced that trilateral talks on ending the Russia-Ukraine war are set for next week. Those discussions will occur in the capital of the United Arab Emirates. The focus will remain on advancing peace efforts between the warring nations.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted a sense that Russia is serious about holding negotiating sessions in Abu Dhabi. This assessment followed a conversation between European leaders and the Kremlin. Finnish President Alexander Stubb and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre spoke by phone with Vladimir Putin on October 27. Zelenskyy said the two leaders clearly told Putin that genuine de-escalation measures are needed for Ukraine's energy sector and infrastructure.
