The Dallas Cowboys defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 38-21 on Monday night to end a two-game losing streak. The victory on the road in Philadelphia lifted Dallas to a 2-4 record and kept the team within reach of division leaders who currently sit at 4-2-1.
Quarterback Dak Prescott threw three touchdown passes during the win. He completed passes to CeeDee Lamb for two of those scores and to George Pickens for the third. This marked the sixth time in his career that Prescott has recorded at least three passing touchdowns against the Eagles.
Running back Javonte Williams provided a ground threat that had been missing in recent weeks. He carried the ball 25 times for a career-high 155 yards. Williams scored the final touchdown of the game from the 2-yard line with 2 minutes and 21 seconds remaining on the clock. The Cowboys combined for more than 200 rushing yards and more than 200 passing yards against the Eagles for the first time since 1983.
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer remained reserved during his postgame interviews despite the win. He noted that the players simply executed well and did not act out of desperation. When asked about his demeanor, Schottenheimer stated he was great and excited for the team. Prescott observed that Schottenheimer appeared hungry and angry, noting the coaching staff takes pride in their work.
The Cowboys' defense allowed the Eagles to score on the opening drive of the game and again on the first possession of the second half. However, the defensive line recorded two sacks on Eagles quarterback Tanner McKee, with one from Quinnen Williams and another from Donovan Ezeiruaku. DeMarvion Overshown also intercepted one of McKee's passes.
This win comes 22 days after Dallas last defeated the Houston Texans on October 4. The team had scored a combined 29 points in its previous two losses, during which Prescott threw four interceptions. The next contest for Dallas is against the 2-5 Arizona Cardinals at AT&T Stadium. According to ESPN Analytics, the Cowboys currently have a 57% chance of winning the NFC East division.
Schottenheimer said the victory puts the team back in the hunt for the division title. Prescott emphasized that the team must earn its position every week without relying on external expectations.
