Election Tuesday arrives this week, bringing a mix of hope and anxiety to voters across the nation. Chris Brooks, senior pastor of Woodside Bible Church, says the key to navigating the day is keeping eyes on Christ.
Brooks hosts Equipped with Chris Brooks, a live, one-hour program airing weekdays at noon CT. He leads a multisite congregation across the Detroit metropolitan area. The show aims to help listeners grow spiritually and think critically while living compassionately in their communities.
For the November episode, Brooks focuses on grounding hope in Jesus rather than fearing the results of the election. He argues that Christians do not need to fear because Christ is king.
The program is a Moody Global Media production. It features special guests and accepts listener participation through phone calls and social media platforms. The show has been a popular Detroit radio fixture since 2005.
Brooks brings extensive experience to the pulpit and the airwaves. He served for 20 years as senior pastor of Evangel Ministries, a 1,600-member church in Detroit. He also worked as campus dean at Moody Theological Seminary in Plymouth, Michigan.
He holds a BA in Finance from Michigan State University and an MA in Christian Apologetics from Biola University. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry degree at Asbury Theological Seminary. Brooks and his wife, Yodit, have six children: Christopher, Zewditu, Cameron, Judah, Sophia, and Christyana.
